Short bio:

A French and Canadian citizen, Axelle Lemaire works as a Parner at the European consulting firm Roland Berger. She is the Global Head of Terra Numerata, the company's digital ecosystem. She recently authored a Roland Berger study on the subject of "Artificial Intelligence – A Strategy for European Startups".

Between 2014 and 2017, Axelle was a member of the French Government, leading the digital affairs and innovation portfolio, which she then called "the ministry for imagination". Axelle helped launch the French Tech program for startups, introduced the Digital Republic Bill to Parliament, and initiated the first national artificial intelligence strategy in Europe. While in government, she organized a public consultation to lay out recommendations promoting startups at the European level. Before that experience she sat as a Member of the National Assembly representing the French citizens abroad, and published a report on the importance of an EU digital strategy. Her European commitment started during her years spent in London, working as a lawyer and researcher and then as a parliamentary researcher in the House of Commons.

Axelle believes that technologies can empower people to make the world a better place. She chairs the strategic committee of Hopening, a company advising NGOs and charities in their fundraising activities, and sits on the steering committee of the French incubator for democratic innovations.

Axelle is the proud mother of three children.
